Although Stevens Point has the world's largest trivia contest, there are
several cities that have similar contests.
Berlin Trivia Contest
Starting on the Saturday of trivia weekend and continuing for twenty-three
straight hours (about 100 questions), questions are broadcast over Berlin
Classic Hits 102.3 FM. Teams have three songs worth of time to call in
with the correct answer(s). Teams are allowed one guess per call-in, and may
call as often as they can get through during the time period. Questions are
worth 5, 10, 25 and 50 points each. The team with the highest point total at the
end of the contest, Sunday morning, is declared the winner. Cash prizes of $100,
$75, $50, $25 go to the top four teams. The contests in 2000 and 2001 were
shortened to 9 daylight hours (8:00 to 5:00) on 1090 AM only. The contest is
returned to it's original 21 hours for the 21st year of the contest in 2002.
In 2003, it went up to 22 hours. In 2004 and 2005, it was 23 hours.
In 2006, the Berlin contest was discontinued.
